The Horns is an immense country, that no king has ever had the courage to dominate, the Horns are like the antechamber of the Abyss, a landscape of desolation where the most dangerous monsters in all of Lore live.
No one has yet accurately mapped the Horns. There exist, however, a few maps signed in the explorer's blood, parchment sketches of the horrors that lie beyond the great seas of the mainlands. Those who venture out into the Horns do so for one reason and one reason only: treasures from the time of the First Empire. In those days, the Horns had refugees from all walks of life, from Princes fleeing the anger of their people, to bold pioneers, eager to build a village on the coast. All were trying their luck in the narrow and rocky valleys of the Horns, but no one ever saw them again.
Freebooter, mercenary, sell-sword - Lore is home to many a bold adventurer or foolhardy peasant looking to earn his fortune with the edge of a sword. The Iron Circle is a violent and quarrelsome brotherhood who recognize no law save their own bloody code. It's not unusual for Iron Legionnaires to serve as mercenaries, taking the gold of one city-state to plunder the trade of another. Unfortunately, the Circle and its members are face the stigma of being notoriously fickle and untrustworthy, and quick to change their colors. This is not true, but they are often described as such because they are willing to serve and work for anyone who is willing to pay them, monsters or not. Individual legionnaires are free to follow any commander they choose or leave when a better opportunity comes along.
